1st Degree – August 2014 – Master Thompson
2nd Degree – July 2017 – GM Sutherland/Mr Kaczmarek

My journey began in 2010. I had always interested in martial arts and wanted to try kickboxing. Once my son joined as a Little Ninja I realised GMSMA had adult classes and it was the push I needed to give it a go.

Once I started I was hooked, it kept me fit, it’s great for setting goals and GM Sutherland and the team were so supportive.

I trained twice a week and attended numerous Sparring and Kickboxing Workshops with Master Thompson and the instructors at GMSMA, I even competed at 35 years old, something I’d always wanted to try.

2014 I got involved in coaching, I was always at the squad training sessions and I began helping out our Kickboxers and working with some of the younger taekwondo students and coached many of them in their sparring.

I really enjoy coaching in the sparring divisions at local and international competitions. In January this year I was convinced to teach in a Ladies Beginner Class, I’d always wanted to teach and I think back to GM Sutherland’s words of encouragement and was delighted to join the great team at GMSMA.
