I started training under Grand Master Sutherland in September 2003, aged just 8. Now 17 years on, as a 25 year old woman, looking back on my first time walking in to The Dojang, was a moment that changed my life. Taekwon-Do has truly shaped me in to the person I am today. I am strong-minded and self-disciplined and I have Taekwon-Do to thank for that.

I started helping out in the Little Ninja classes when I was a blue belt. Watching the instructor’s teaching techniques and passion for the martial art, I started to pick up on how to instruct a Taekwon-Do class. I would assist the Black belts with small groups during games and warm ups. As I climbed up the grades I got more involved with the kids classes. I started helping out with the Kicking Kids programme and went to a few instructors classes to pick up on teaching tips and tricks. I also became First Aid qualified to support being an instructor. I then started taking warm ups, teaching technical moves and then patterns to small groups. I still teach to this day. I take my own Kicking kid classes & ladies Kickboxing Classes. I love teaching and I love being part of a team with Mr Kaczmarek, Mr Danskin and Mr Grant at GMSMA.

Since being promoted to 2nd Degree Blackbelt, I feel I have developed more than I ever did throughout my whole Taekwon-Do career, in my abilities and skills but also as a person. Since becoming a young adult and dealing with stress life brings and other things in my personal life, Taekwon-Do has been my rock.

The people in my Taekwon-Do life are now my family. I will always be grateful for that.
